Out? Perry to Reassess Run for White House

After spending millions in advertisements and still coming in at fifth place in Iowa Tuesday, Rick Perry is returning to Texas to take a long hard look at whether or not he will continue his pursuit of the GOP nomination for president. From the National Journal:

Texas Gov. Rick Perry said Tuesday night he was returning to Texas to consider whether to continue his Republican bid for the presidency.

Speaking to supporters after a fifth-place finish in the Iowa caucuses, Perry said, "With the voters' decision tonight in Iowa, I've decided to return to Texas, assess the results of tonight's caucus, determine whether there is a path forward for myself in this race."

Perry had circulated a full schedule of events in South Carolina on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.


Update (from Erika): On second thought, it appears that Gov. Perry and his team have decided to forge ahead, and will indeed make their way to the South Carolina primary:
