Herman Cain Leading in Iowa

A new Rasmussen Report shows Herman Cain has officially obtained frontrunner status in Iowa:

A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Iowa caucus-goers shows that Cain is in front with 28% followed by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney at 21%. Congressman Ron Paul is a distant third at 10% followed by former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 9%, Congresswoman Michelle Bachmann at 8%, and Texas Governor Rick Perry at 7%.

Prior to Tuesday night's GOP debate in Las Vegas, Cain was tied nationally with Mitt Romney and was also the only republican beating President Obama:

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of 1,000 Likely Republican Primary voters shows Cain and Romney each attracting 29% of the vote while Gingrich is a distant third at 10%.

Cain this week holds a very slight 43% to 41% lead over the incumbent. This coincides with his surge among likely Republican primary voters: Cain and Romney are now tied for the lead in the contest for the party’s 2012 presidential nomination, with none of the other hopefuls even close.
