Donald Rumsfeld: Privileged to Have Been Able to Serve Our Country

Earlier this week I had the privilege of sitting down with former two-time Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to discuss the 10th anniversary of 9/11, Paul Krugman's repulsive op-ed in The New York Times, budget cuts, the Arab Spring, the Palestinian Authority and more.

Rumsfeld served as Secretary of Defense under President Gerald Ford as the youngest person to ever hold the position, and under President George W. Bush as the oldest person to hold the position. He is also the only person to ever hold the position twice. In addition, he served in the Nixon Administration and as President Reagan's Special Envoy to the Middle East. These accomplishments are just the beginning of his long and successful career.

"I feel very privileged to have been able to serve our country."

Before, during and after the interview, Mr. Rumsfeld couldn't have been more gracious. Fresh off of a "Fox and Friends" interview, he walked into the office with a big smile on his face and gave us a warm welcome. He took the time to show me some of the artifacts in his office, including his cabinet chairs, numerous commissions and a piece of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on 9/11. He is clearly a man who has enjoyed his life, and despite all of his success, Rumsfeld remains humble and principled.

Many thanks to Benjamin Johnson and Louis Tartaglia from Accuracy in Media for filming and editing.
