Terry Family: Contempt Vote "Should Not Have Been Necessary"

In the wake of the contempt vote against Eric Holder this evening, Brian Terry's family has issued a statement on the matter, in which they continue to emphasize that their end goal is nothing beyond seeking justice for Terry's death. Roberty Heyer, Terry's cousin and Chairman of the Brian Terry foundation, said in a press release:

"The Terry family takes no pleasure in the contempt vote against Attorney General Eric Holder," said Heyer. "Such a vote should not have been necessary. The Justice department should have released the documents related to Fast and Furious months ago.

"Eric Holder's refusal to do so and President Obama's assertion of executive privilege have stood in the way of justice and the answers we seek into the death of fallen Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry.

"Given the Obama Administration's steadfast refusal to level with the American people, Congress was left with no choice but to vote Mr. Holder in contempt."

It's a graceful, yet firm reminder of this family's very real loss, and the shameful way this administration has played politics with the death of one of its citizens.
