As Senate Democrats continue to resist President Donald Trump's cabinet picks, former surgeon Ben Carson finally cleared a procedural vote to advance his nomination to be secretary of Housing and Urban Development.

Only 10 Democrats voted in favor of Carson in the 62-37 vote.

The final vote on his nomination is expected Thursday morning if Democrats comply with the Senate rules.

Carson is planning a countrywide listening tour soon after taking office.
