Sgt. Bergdahl Asked Barack Obama for Pardon

In a letter thanking Barack Obama for for rescuing him in 2014 and trading Guantanamo Bay detainees, Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl asked Obama to pardon him before leaving the White House, according to Fox News.

White House and Justice Department officials also said that Bergdahl submitted several copies of a clemency application that were sent to the Pentagon, the Justice Department and the White House immediately after the election. 

Bergdahl was held captive for five years after being captured by the Taliban in Afghanistan  Last month he court-martial trial was delayed for a second time and will now begin May 15 at Fort Bragg, NC.
