NBA Player Received Death Threats for Supporting Coup in Turkey

After the failed political coup by the Turkish military last week, Oklahoma City Thunder center Enes Kanter says he's been receiving death threats for posting anti-Erdogan rhetoric just after the uprising.

Kanter has been critical in the past of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and in June 2015, was left off Turkey's national team for Eurobasket 2015 because of his political beliefs.

"Death threats continue to fall," Kanter posted on Twitter, in Turkish. "Prayer does not stand still."

Kanter came to the United States in 2009 where he attended high school and later became the third pick in the 2011 NBA Draft.
