Several reporters snuck into  Omar Mateen's apartment complex and did their own investigation on Wednesday.

One reporter examined Mateen’s expired firearms license sitting on a kitchen counter and noted books related to the Islamic faith.

The bizarre incident only adds to the list of questions regarding the federal government's ability to defend its citizens.

It was only six months ago that members of the media bombarded the San Bernardino terror suspects’ apartment, immediately raising concerns about the FBI's ability to secure potential evidence.
