Mika Brzezinski: Maybe Trump Cancelled American Cemetery Trip Because He's Acting Like A 'Dictator' and 'Tyrant'

On Monday, “Morning Joe” co-host, Mika Brzezinski, piled on to the criticism of President Donald Trump not visiting the Aisne Marne American Cemetery.

While many simply mocked Trump for not wanting to deal with rain, Brzezinski took her criticism to the next level by accusing him of possibly acting like a “dictator” and a “tyrant.”

“But I also think that he can’t get away from the phone right now, given the potential threat he and some family members they may be in,” Brzezinski speculated. “That is one potential reason, potential explanation for such an unbelievable decision.”

Brzezinski said because Trump did not want to stand next to our allies on the world stage (spoiler alert: He did that the very next day), this behavior showed that, “Yes, maybe he’s behaving like a dictator. Yes, maybe he’s behaving like a tyrant. Maybe there’s other reasons for it.”

“I still think it poses a serious threat to our democracy,” she added.

“Definitely, he’s creating doubt, suspicion, and, most importantly, fear,” guest Zanibab Salbi said in agreement.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders saidthe reason for Trump not visiting the cemetery was because the weather and last-minute road travel arrangements would not have been feasible.

“Yesterday, because of near-zero visibility, Marine One was unable to fly, as planned,” Sanders said in a statement. “A car ride of two and a half hours, each way, would have required closures to substantial portions of Paris roadways for the President’s’ motorcade, on short notice.”

Sanders said because Trump did not “want to cause that kind of unexpected disruption,” it was best to not go.

“He was honored to be able to attend today’s event at the Suresnes American Cemetery and was deeply moved by the sacrifices of so many for the cause of freedom,” she added.
