Things Looking Good For R's In The Lonestar State

Texas Republican Bill Flores just released a poll showing him ahead of Rep. Chet Edwards (D) by nineteen points; Flores is squashing Edwards 55 percent to 36 percent. Even if the poll is biased in Flores' favor, that's still a big margin in a district that was initially considered a toss-up.

You can lop that on to a poll taken two weeks ago by Republican Stefani Carter, who is taking on yet another Texas Democratic incumbent, Carol Kent. That poll showed her ahead by 40-49, and was again biased in Carter's favor.

Then there's Republican Quico Canseco, who is leading incumbent Ciro Rodriguez (D) 43 percent to 37 percent, according to another internal Republican poll. It's difficult to put a whole lot of confidence in these polls, but they're nothing to overlook, either. These Democrats are entrenched in Texas districts by voting Republican all the way, and the fact that they're on-edge means that the even the word "Democrat" is poisonous these days.
