Gates Wants Military Cutbacks, U.S. House Of Representatives Does Not

Last week, Defense Secretary Robert Gates talked about how he wanted to massively cut defense spending. The House Armed Services Committee didn't listen. Yesterday, they approved a 1.9% military pay increase, as opposed to the 1.4% increase requested by Gates and Obama. They also gave more money to hostile fire pay, family separation, and health care benefits that the DOD didn't even want.
