Sen. John Thune (R-SD), Republican Policy Committee Chair, said that no matter what is altered in the bill during these next few weeks and months of debate, Republicans will always be firmly opposed.

This is a Democrat bill... the core elements of the bill are all the same, and all Republicans are against the spending, the taxing, and the Medicare cuts. I think we’re going to keep our ranks united on this.
