A Week Before The Election, McDonnell's Lead Grows To Double Digits

The latest Washington Post poll — which has given the most conservative estimates of McDonnell's lead throughout the Virginia gubernatorial campaign — put McDonnell 11 points ahead of Deeds a week before the election takes place. That's up from a 7 point lead when the Post first started polling in August, and four points ahead after the

smoking gun thesis the Post published in September, in which they tried to paint McDonnell as a misogynist.

Now the Post says McDonnell has "big advantages on the top issues, particularly taxes, and is now seen as the more effective leader, more honest and more empathetic."

The survey also said that 7 out of 10 likely Virginia voters have no confidence that President Obama's eleventh-hour campaign appearance in the largely African American part of Norfolk will have any impact whatsoever on the election results. That event will take place on Friday at Old Dominion University.
