John Edwards Meme Getting Stale

All right, National Enquirer. That's enough.

A full week after they "broke" the story that John Edwards was indeed the father of Rielle Hunter's child, Edwards has yet to confess to the alleged paternity test that proves this information. The Enquirer has now come out and said that Edwards is planning on relocating his mistress and her little girl to his North Carolina neighborhood so he can take care of them.

The Enquirer is banking on the veracity of it's original John Edwards story to draw attention to this new line of revelations, which it has done quite successfully: the new "the kid is his!" meme has made the rounds of mainstream press and beyond. But this newfound attention needs to be tempered with a reminder of exactly what it is: a publication that pays sources for information. Astonishingly, this frequently leads to lying! So the impetus is on The Enquirer to prove the facts, and until it does, I'm going to be changing my reaction from jaw-drop to eye-roll.
