Kicking Card Check While It's Down

We already know that a lot of the meat was pulled out of card check -- you know, the actual card check provision in the bill -- but it's really looking grim for the rest of the legislation, which is currently sitting, inert, in the Health Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

"We've got the health care bill; we've got appropriations bills, and we're lacking two senators that we need right now....Nothing is happening on that right now," Sen. Tom Harkin, D-Iowa, told the National Journal. Unions have been putting their resources into health care for the time being, leaving labor legislation in the dust. Thank goodness.
