Republicans Loose In New York

I'm bummed; Jim Tedisco has conceded the NY-20 Congressional seat to Democratic Scott Murphy after a recount left him 401 votes behind his competitor. The Politico

reported that Tedisco called Murphy to offer him congratulations over winning the race late this afternoon.

The National Republican Congressional Committee said the loss was encouraging, given how close it was.

“Although Jim was unsuccessful in his hope to change Washington, he has shed light on our Party’s efforts to win back the majority in the House," said chairman Pete Sessions (R-Tex.)

Call me a pessimist, but I don't think it sheds much light. This race has been seen as a harbinger of future GOP success or failure, and for the time being, we're stuck crying in our beers.
