Blagojevich Buddy Might Vie For House Seat

There's rumblings that if the moderate Rep. Mark Kirk runs for an Illinois Senate seat or for governor, State Sen. Michael Bond (D) may try and take Kirk's seat. This is great news, because Bond was a member of the "

Blagojevich 26" - the group of Illinois state Senators who voted against an amendment that would've permitted Illinois voters to oust governors by a popular vote. The amendment passed the Illinois House, but didn't get through the Senate because these Senators were too deep in bed with the ex-Governor. Kirk has held the seat with fairly strong margins since he was first elected in 2000, and if the Dems back Bond, there's an even better chance the seat will stay in Republican hands.

In case you missed it, Blagojevich was just denied the opportunity to participate on a reality TV show "I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here" -- in which he would "eat bugs," among other activities -- because the judge didn't want him traveling to Costa Rica where the show was being filmed. Blagojevich said he wanted to "eat bugs" to help pay his mortgage. This may be the best possible result of a political scandal to date.
