Budget Deal In Progress

Speaker John Boehner and Majority Leader Harry Reid are closing in on a deal to prevent a government shutdown, the National Journal reports. Reid told reporters that they agreed on $38 billion in cuts last night, but are stuck on the rider that blocks funding for Planned Parenthood.

A representative from Boehner's office said that disagreements over cuts, not Planned Parenthood, are holding up the deal.
