Coburn: My Relationship with Obama is 'Cooler'

Senator Tom Coburn of Oklahoma is apparently pretty close with President Obama. In an interview this week with the Washington Examiner, Coburn was asked about his relationship with the president and how it has changed over the years.

After creating a bond with Obama in the Senate, Senator Coburn says that his relationship with President Obama is ‘cooler’ now that he has been more critical of the president’s policies.

“Oh, it’s a little cooler because I’ve been a little harsher. But I still write him notes and talk to him occasionally,” he said.

Coburn added “it’s cordial, friendly. I actually really like the guy — I mean, as a person. I don’t like his policies, but I like him as a person.”

Coburn had originally hoped (as most of us did) that President Obama would be a president that would pursue policies that were best for the country. But unfortunately we have all been disappointed that he has not. Coburn listed 3 big mistakes Obama has made:

1. He has surrounded himself with like-minded people.

2. His approach on health care was wrong.

3. He didn’t embrace the Simpson-Bowles deficit reduction recommendations.

Although Coburn claims to still have a good relationship with the president, it seems like Coburn is rather upset their relationship has ‘cooled’. Darn.
