Harry Reid: No One Can Technically 'Keep Their Plan,' If You Really Think About It

This has to be the lamest spin to date in defense of Obama's most famous mega-lie, and it comes from an appropriately lame source. Cringe-worthy:

"What he said was true. If you want to keep the insurance you have, you can keep it. The problem is, we did not put the bill into effect that way."

I'm speechless. The promise Obama made was true, except for the fact that the law he signed didn't allow it to be kept. Incredible. Reid's bigger point -- and I use the term loosely -- is that because insurance plans are renewed on an annual basis, nobody in America technically gets to keep their plan from year to year, or something. Sorry, Harry, but here is what the president said, over and over and over again to anxious Americans who were already skeptical of his costly healthcare overhaul:

Americans heard that unambiguous pledge repeatedly. They understood what it meant. And it's turned out to be a huge lie, as many of us warned at the time. And that lie will only grow bigger. Imagine if the original sales pitch had been some form of Reid's imbecilic parsing, or Obama's ex post facto revisionism. The law wouldn't have passed. So Democrats knowingly lied to millions of people as a means to an end, the end being an historic federal power grab. The same mindset applies to their "reduced costs" lie. How would Obama's signature legislation have fared if Democrats had peddled the Gutierrez talking point about premium increases being great news:

But it's not just the rich paying more (even though we were promised that "everyone's" rates would go down). Millions of middle class Americans like Jessica Sanford and Liz Binns are also experiencing sticker shock, which is likely to grow even worse next year. "A lot of you are going to pay more, and that's a good thing!" was a sure loser, so they lied. I look forward to hearing Democrats' ludicrous excuses when people start discovering that they also cannot keep their preferred doctors, thanks to Obamacare's severely limited coverage networks. "Whatever. Your doctor was super greedy anyway..."
