Politico Suspends Reporter for Racially-Charged, Anti-Romney Comments

The journalistic infraction occurred on -- where else? -- MSNBC yesterday, when Politico "reporter" Joe Williams enthusiastically participated in Martin Bashir's daily orgy of anti-Romney commentary:

Incidentally, earlier in that very segment, Lefty David Corn dished out an unclever quip mocking Ann Romney's love of horses, which doubles as a therapy to combat the effects of her Multiple Sclerosis -- a subject that Neil Cavuto dealt with this week.  Really classy, guys.  Speaking of class, here's Williams tweeting dick jokes -- yes, dick jokes -- about Mr. and Mrs. Romney:

Click over to Breitbart for a long roster of juvenile and/or partisan tweets from this "reporter," who has now been suspended:

POLITICO reporter Joe Williams has been suspended pending review of recent controversial comments he made on television and Twitter, POLITICO editors informed staff late Thursday night... "Regrettably, an unacceptable number of Joe Williams's public statements on cable and Twitter have called into question his commitment to this responsibility," POLITICO's founding editors John Harris and Jim VandeHei wrote in a memo to the staff. "His comment about Governor Romney earlier today on MSNBC fell short of our standards for fairness and judgment in an especially unfortunate way. Joe has acknowledged that his appearance reflected a poor choice of words," the continued. "This appearance came in the context of other remarks on Twitter that, cumulatively, require us to make clear that our standards are serious, and so are the consequences for disregarding them. This is true for all POLITICO journalists, including an experienced and well-respected voice like Joe Williams."

"Well respected" by whom?  This guy has been tweeting Romney-bashing comments for some time.  Raising the racial stakes made things worse.  Read the string of Williams' tweets (especially the one about the GOP definition of "voter fraud") and explain to me how this guy can possibly serve as a plausibly "independent" political journalist.  Team Breitbart has also exposed another Democrat-MSM nexis.  In advance of Mitt Romney's speech to a Latino group yesterday, ABC News ran a preposterous story wondering if the fate of his entire campaign hinged on the address.  The piece also omitted several items that are unhelpful to President Obama, such as 11 percent Hispanic unemployment, and the fact that Obama hadn't visited this organization since the last time he was pandering for their votes, etc.  And wouldn't you know it?  ABC's reporter is engaged to...an Obama spokeswoman.  Surprise!  A profile of the happy couple cooed that they'd met "over late-night pizza and a belief in the possibility of a historic campaign" in 2008.  Now she's an official paid flak for Obama, and he's an unofficialt paid flak for Obama.  How very cozy and romantic.
