"Allahu Akbar"

An update to our homepage story reveals a diabolical, if predictable, motive in today's airport shooting that left two US servicemen dead and two others injured:

A man whose office is near the site of the shooting said it was an area where buses load arriving passengers. Speaking on condition of anonymity to protect his business, he said witnesses told him that the gunman first talked to the military personnel to find out who they were and then opened fire, shouting “God is great” in Arabic. The witnesses said that one person was killed outside the bus and the other near the open bus door, he recounted, and .that the shooter fled, was pursued by other military personnel and arrested by a German law enforcement officer.

Our thoughts are with the families of the two slain servicemen, and our prayers with the two who are recovering from injuries.

UPDATE - The president interrupted the White House daily press briefing to offer condolences and express outrage:

@markknoller Pres Obama vowed to "spare no effort" to track down those responsible for the attack.
