Senator Boxer Admits "Public Option" Is Alive and Well

On MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Show tonight, Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) argued that the expansion of Medicaid in Democratic health care plans is, indeed, a “public option”.  Then, supporting expanding Medicare to younger residents, Senator Boxer argued such a move would also amount to a “public option”.

While I have no illusions the senator’s goal in making such an admission was anything but an attempt to appease the Democratic Party’s liberal base, it is nonetheless refreshing to see such rare honesty from a Democratic politician discussing health care.
