One of my all-time favorite Obama quotes is from a fundraiser in Miami last June: "If you're looking for just a bunch of partisan rhetoric, I'm probably not your guy." Oh, President Obama. Your many personalities of waxing and waning moderation certainly do keep up on our toes.
Monday, President Obama again hit the road in his black armoured bus to campaign through North Carolina and Virginia, key swing states, using the three-day tour to try and curry more public favor of his unenticing jobs plan. The President has been busily accusing the GOP of being intentionally obstructionist and overly partisan, and had a little gem to add to that sentiment during a stop in North Carolina:
My plan says we’re going to put teachers back in the classrooms, construction workers back to work rebuilding America, rebuilding our schools. Tax cuts for small businesses, tax cuts for hiring veterans, tax cuts if you give your workers a raise - that's my plan. And then you got their plan, which is, let's have dirtier air, dirtier water, less people with health insurance. Allright, so, so far, at least, I feel better about my plan.
If that doesn't define both 'demagoguery' and 'partisanship,' I don't know what does. I would say that such a line from the President is a dagger to my heart, except that, apparently, I don't have a heart. I actually want smog to fill the skies and toxins to linger in our wells, and then, when people get sick from said pollution, I don't want any of them to be able to afford health insurance. Yep, that's basically me in a nutshell.

Actually, I envision a prosperous, free world in which individuals are empowered to take care of themselves, the government doesn't have its tentacles wrapped around every sphere of modern life, and the proper incentives and the free market lead the way in environmental progress instead of the government picking politically advantageous winners and losers. But hey - details.
