Allen West's Wife Defends Her Husband

Townhall Magazine subscribers got to know a little bit more about GOP Rep. Allen West's accomplished wife Angela in our June issue, and now, she is featured in a new campaign ad defending her husband, saying "recent attacks on my husband go too far."

Here's Angela, in her own words:

And here's another exclusive excerpt from our June feature on Allen West, written by Katie Pavlich, that tells you a little more about Angela's resume:

When they met, West was stationed out of Fort Riley, Kan., and described himself as a lonely, single artillery captain. Angela, whose father had also made a career out of serving in the military, was working as a consultant on Wall Street in New York City.

"For awhile, we were doing the long-distance thing,” West says. “I finally said, ‘Look, if this is serious and it’s going to happen, let’s take it another level, because I just can’t be running up to New York,’ and, you know, being a southern guy, New York was never kind of like my fancy anyhow.”

West must have been quite the charmer, because Angela ended up making the decision to leave the big city lights for the Great Plains. ...

Once in Kansas, Angela quickly readjusted and became the first African-American professor in the College of Business at her alma mater, Kansas State.

“She’s sharp,” West says, adding she holds both an MBA and a doctorate.
