MLB Clarifies Chicago Warning

MLB Clarifies Chicago Warning

An MLB spokesperson told Townhall Tuesday the notice that Major League Baseball had sent out to their teams about downtown Chicago, faced with a recent surge in violence, has been misconstrued.

The spokesperson explained that the MLB has resident security agents in each of the markets where MLB clubs play, and that one of their responsibilities is to alert clubs as to any issues going on in a particular city.  That can mean something as innocuous as a parade downtown, or bars that are known to be problem areas.

There's no particular hierarchy or color-coded threat system to the alerts, and the spokesman gave the impression that the one issued to Chicago was nothing out of the ordinary.
