Nowadays, each time President Trump mentions his Attorney General Jeff Sessions, it's to criticize him. For instance, he has called Sessions "beleaguered" and "weak" for recusing himself from the Russia investigation. This week, Trump complained to "Fox & Friends" that Sessions never took control of the Justice Department. Following these latest remarks, Sessions released a statement that served as his defense.

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) was offended that Sessions even had to issue the statement. He gave the president and a few of his colleagues a piece of his mind on the Senate floor Thursday.

Sasse explained that while Republicans and Democrats may disagree with Sessions on some policy issues, he thinks "everybody in this body knows that Jeff Sessions has been executing his job in a way faithful to his oath of office, to the Constitution, and to defend the rule of law."
He agrees with Sessions that the "honorable" employees of the DOJ perform their duties in a way Americans can be proud of. Yet, he called out his fellow members of Congress who are "bizarrely" saying that Sessions is going to be fired.
One of those members is Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who predicted Trump would fire Sessions soon after the midterms.
“I think there will come a time, sooner rather than later, where it will be time to have a new face and a fresh voice at the Department of Justice,” Graham said Thursday.
