Oversight Committee Dems Claim to Have Proof Flynn Lied on His Security Clearance Application

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), ranking member on the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, has reason to believe that former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn lied while applying for his security clearance last year. In a letter to Chairman Jason Chaffetz, Cummings demands that he subpoena the White House to determine what President Trump and his associates knew about Flynn's background upon hiring him.

In particular, Cummings says that the committee has documents to suggest that Flynn indicated he had been paid by U.S. companies during a trip to Moscow. In reality, he had been paid by "Russia's media propaganda arm, RT."

Flynn, who resigned earlier this year after misleading the White House about his meetings with Russian officials, pleaded the fifth Monday, choosing not to appear before the Senate Intelligence Committee to answer questions about the Russia investigation.
