In case you hadn't heard, President Trump has relieved FBI Director James Comey of his duties. Comey, who found himself at the controversial center of Hillary Clinton's email investigation last year and the Russia-Trump investigation, had "lost the confidence" of those who work for him, Trump explained on Twitter Wednesday.
The morning after the bombshell, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is in Washington to meet with Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and Trump. At the end of his press conference with Tillerson, one reporter shouted a question at the two leaders wondering whether the Comey firing would cloud their discussions. Lavrov responded sarcastically.
Reporter: Does the Comey firing cast a shadow over your talks?

Lavrov: "Was he fired? You're kidding." https://t.co/EA1e2llZNx
Some social media users skewered Lavrov for daring to mock our "democratic norms."
Wow: Russian foreign minister Lavrov just mocked our democratic norms in front of our top diplomat on U.S. soil.https://t.co/oRWIqpBOwK

Lavrov is meeting with the administration to discuss foreign policy matters involving Ukraine, Syria, according to Reuters.
Update: It turns out this wasn't the first time Lavrov had a zinger for an eager reporter.
