Trump to Be First President Since Reagan to Address NRA Forum

Donald Trump received the earliest ever endorsement from the National Rifle Association during last year's presidential campaign. The two still appear to be good friends as NRA Executive Director Chris Cox has announced Trump will be addressing the gun rights group's annual leadership forum in Atlanta, GA later this month. He will be the first president to speak at the forum since Ronald Reagan.

During the presidential race, Trump pledged to protect and expand Americans' Second Amendment rights. He made good on that promise by overturning an Obama-era regulation that prevented some Social Security recipients from obtaining firearms. Additionally, the administration has changed the definition of "fugitive" and may try to do away with the Army Corps of Engineers’ ban on carrying loaded firearms and ammunition on federal lands, according to McClatchy.

“NRA members and supporters across this country are very pleased with what we’ve seen out of this administration so far," Cox said. "But there is still a lot of work to do.”
