The State Department has suddenly realized that it failed to hand over a "handful" of former secretary of state's emails that were directly related to the terror attacks in Benghazi, Libya. On Friday, the agency announced it would turn those over to the House Select Committee on Benghazi:
“Following our second review of former Secretary Clinton’s emails… the Department is producing a small number of emails relating to Benghazi,” the official said. The official could not say precisely how many Benghazi-related Clinton emails the State Department missed in its original review, but characterized it as a “handful.”
In total, 925 emails have been recovered. The group Citizens United first forced the issue by filing a FOIA request for the undisclosed emails.
Will the content in this latest batch of Hillary emails hurt her presidential chances? Certainly, her choosing to handle classified correspondence on a private, unsecure server has damaged her integrity among American voters. A majority don't trust her.
Clinton will have to answer for her negligent conduct when she faces the Trey Gowdy-led Benghazi panel on October 22.
