Jennifer Lawrence Suggests the Hurricanes are Revenge for Electing Donald Trump

Actress Jennifer Lawrence has a rather curious theory about why the United States is suddenly facing a barrage of hurricanes: Mother Nature is angry at the USA for electing Donald Trump, and this is her revenge.

“You know, you’re watching these hurricanes now, and it’s really hard, especially while promoting this movie, not to feel Mother Nature’s rage and wrath," Lawrence said in an interview promoting her new film, "Mother!" She also referred to Trump's election as "really startling" and said that she was currently quite upset by the political climate in the United States.

Watch here: (Lawrence's comments about Trump begin around the 11:30 mark.)

Lawrence did not explain why the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma was not limited to the United States. Antigua and Barbuda, a tiny island nation that did not elect Donald Trump in 2016, was decimated by the storm, and the British Virgin Islands (which belong to the United Kingdom, who also did not elect Donald Trump president in 2016) saw significant damage as well.

I mean, this is about as crazy as the people who said that other natural disasters in the past were in retaliation for people supporting gay marriage or gay rights, and it should be swiftly condemned as such. Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Jose are not some kind of supernatural revenge for electing President Trump, and to suggest they are is crazy. Hurricanes are cyclical. Some years we have none, some years we have a ton. Besides, if God/Mother Nature/(insert supreme being of choice) wanted to smite the United States for electing the wrong person, it seems odd He/She/They would wait 10 months to do so.

Lawrence is a talented actress, and she should probably stick to acting in lieu of climate science.
