Lawmakers Come Together In Bipartisan Support of Steve Scalise

Lawmakers on both teams will sport LSU gear in honor of injured House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) during Thursday's Congressional Baseball Game. Scalise, along with four others, was shot and injured at practice on Wednesday morning and remains in critical condition. Scalise is a LSU alumnus.

The effort is being organized by Rep. Roger Marshall (R-KS) and his staff. Traditionally, the members of Congress wear some sort of baseball uniform related to their home state--either a college or professional team.

In another show of bipartisanship, the Democrats have invited the Republican team to join them for dinner tonight at the Democratic Club in Washington.

Rep. Joe Barton (R-TX), the Republican's team manager, also announced that the Fallen Officer Fund will receive some of the proceeds from Thursday's game. The Fallen Officer Fund assists the families of police officers killed in the line of duty. The Capitol Police Memorial Fund is also a new beneficiary.
