Roger Ailes, the founder and former chairman of Fox News, passed away on Thursday at the age of 77.
Fox News anchor Shepard Smith gave an emotional, 12-minute tribute to his former boss, detailing the early years of the channel and thanking Ailes for his support throughout his career. Smith was blinking back tears throughout the tribute and repeatedly stated how much he loved Ailes. He called him a "father figure" and told a touching story of how Ailes immediately accepted his partner.
