One Injured in Letter Bomb Attack in Paris

An employee of the International Monetary Fund was injured on Thursday after a letter bomb exploded at the organization's office in Paris. The rest of the building was evacuated. The employee who opened the letter suffered face and hand injuries.

A statement from IMF President Christine Lagarde condemned the attack as one of cowardice and said that the organization would be working with French authorities to identify the culprit. Lagarde was in Frankfurt, Germany at the time of the attack.

“I have been informed about the explosion in the IMF's Paris office, which caused injuries to one of our staff. I have been in touch with the office, and my compassion goes to the colleagues there.

“I condemn this cowardly act of violence and reaffirm the IMF's resolve to continue our work in line with our mandate. We are working closely with the French authorities to investigate this incident and ensure the safety of our staff.”

There's currently no word on who is behind this bomb, but a far-left Greek organization took credit for an attempted parcel bombing on Wednesday in Germany that targeted the country's finance minister. It is unknown if this group is also responsible for today's attack on the IMF.
