North Dakota To Vote On Legalizing Medical Marijuana

North Dakota will be voting on whether or not to legalize marijuana for medicinal purposes to treat a specific number of conditions. Petitioners garnered more than 4,000 signatures over the required number to make the ballot.

If passed, patients would be permitted to possess up to three ounces of cannabis. The state would issue patient ID cards and regulate dispensaries. If a person lives a great distance from a dispensary, they will be allowed to grow up to eight plants.

North Dakota would become the 26th state to legalize some form of medicinal marijuana if this measure were to pass. Four states and the District of Columbia have legalized marijuana for recreational use as well.
