In what was likely the biggest upset of the night, Republican Larry Hogan was elected Governor of Maryland over Democrat Anthony Brown. 5. Paul LePage (R) celebrates victory.

Meanwhile in Lewiston, ME at the LePage headquarters, LePage took the stage to declare victory before Michaud had finished conceding his race. LePage, known for his blunt delivery and brass attitude, let all of his emotions show while celebrating his unlikely four-point victory over Michaud and Eliot Cutler.

4. The House of Representatives map was insanely red.
