Voices In Pelosi's Head

Nancy Pelosi swears the voices of early feminists including Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Alice Paul spoke to her.  Supposedly, they told her "at last we have a seat at the table."

Color me skeptical.  Were the voices of those feminist foremothers truly to ring in her ears, she might actually learn a thing or two.   Her support for abortion might be a little less militant -- and she might be less ignorant of her own Church's teachings on it.  Indeed, if Anthony, Stanton and Paul were actually to address Nancy Pelosi, one wonders if she wouldn't hear something like this:

Anthony: "Guilty? Yes. No matter what the motive . . . the woman is awfully guilty who commits the deed.  It will burden her conscience in life, it will burden her soul in death . . ."

Stanton:  "[I[t is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed of as we see fit."

Paul: "Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women."

If Nancy Pelosi had in fact heard from Anthony, Stanton and Paul, chances are that she would be considerably less self-congratulatory in honestly reporting the substance of their message to her.
