Gay Marriage: The Final Frontier

Rep. James Clyburn, predictably, has taken the next step when it comes to gay marriage, calling it a "civil right" that shouldn't be left to state decision making (and which can, presumably, be imposed by judicial fiat).

The President is, apparently, willing to talk about gay marriage.  So what does he think about Clyburn's claim?  Is gay marriage a civil right?  If so, how does he justify allowing states to curtail it?  If not, why not?

Let's hope we don't have to wait until he has another Hollywood fundraiser to get his answers.
