Protecting the Ignorant from the Evil?

Look, this stuff isn't surprising, coming from liberals; remember James Carville and Anita Dunn's cheerful references to totalitarian mass murderers?  Even inside-the-Beltway pundits like the late David Broder conceded that Obama-style "progressivism" carries with it the temptation to totalitarianism. 

But what's most interesting is the reason for the (ironically named)  Democrat, or liberal/left, anti-democratic urge.  It's this: When you predicate your political philosophy on the belief that most of your fellow human beings aren't smart or capable enough to survive without the intervention of Big Government -- and then add the delusion that those who believe differently are heartless or evil -- then there's no inherent reason that strong, anti-democratic measures shouldn't be taken.  It's all to protect the ignorant from the evil, don't you know.
