Having realized that he has, once again, exposed himself as someone fundamentally unsympathetic and out-of-touch with the most basic values and principles of the majority of Americans, the President is running for cover.

He is attempting to "clarify" what sounded a lot like support for the construction of a mosque at Ground Zero.

Mark the President down as switching his vote -- from present, to "aye", and now, back to present.

The problem for the President before was that people suspected how he really felt about this.  The bad news for him now is that, no matter how he tries to backpedal, they know, straight from his own mouth.
