A Timely Reminder

The accounts of the terrorist attacks in India reveal the existence of sadly underprepared Indian security forces.

It's comforting to hope and believe that American forces would be better equipped to confront the kind of situation that unfolded in Mumbai.  But these events are also a reminder that America still has enemies who, no doubt, would gladly have pulled the same stunt at, say, the

That is, if they could.  And although it's become fashionable to castigate George W. Bush as a failed president, it's also worth keeping in mind that he has worked hard to make sure that our country stays alert to the terrorist threat that only emerged most recently in Mumbai -- and that we remain committed to dealing with it.
