Re: Dean Barnett and Jo Ann Haynes Platt

I couldn't let the day pass without extending my condolences to the family of the brilliant, witty and kind Dean Barnett. Whether writing or serving as a Hugh Hewitt guest host, his intellect and his heart were enormous.

On an even more personal note, my beloved mother died this morning. She was an elegant and gracious lady, full of joie de vivre, who loved God, her family and her country -- and who raised three children to do the same. I grew up believing that Barry Goldwater was a family member because of the pictures of him she had kept in our front hall closet -- she had been one of the original Goldwater Girls. We shall not see her like again.
