The "American Idol" Veepstakes

My Townhall column is up.  It argues that there was something profoundly unserious -- unpresidential, even -- in the way that Barack and his campaign tried to hype his veep selection process.  As I note in the piece, it's a strange strategy for someone who's been tagged as more of a celebrity than a leader to treat a running mate rollout like a movie studio promoting a new film.
