But as Campaign Spot's Jim Geraghty noted when I interviewed him yesterday on Hugh Hewitt's show, Kaine may not be the formidable pick that he's assumed to be by many in the MSM.

Sure, he speaks Spanish, and hails from a state that Barack would like to win. But note that he's not even finished his first term as governor -- he's been in office for less than three years. That's a total of six-and-a-half years in a top statewide job for the team . . . less than a year more than a single U.S. Senate term -- combined.
What's more, if Kaine is the choice, it will be (as Politico's Mike Allen also pointed out yesterday on the air) the first time in history when both presidential and vice-presidential candidates -- and both spouses -- are all Harvard Law School grads. As one myself, I'm willing to ask: Is the country really ready for four liberals, hailing from a top training ground of the lefty elite (hey, Harvard isn't known as "Kremlin on the Charles [River]" for nothing), to occupy all the real estate at the top of ticket?
What message does that send to the blue-collar, lunch bunket moderate Democrats who are being hurt so badly by Democrats' (including Barack Obama's) refusal to allow oil and gas exploration?
(Kaine is busily trying to have it both ways, endorsing gas exploration but not oil, unlike VA senator Jim Webb, who wants both).
