Headscarves Not Welcome

Volunteer members of the Obama team -- not paid staffers, volunteers -- told Muslim women wearing headscarves that they were not welcome to sit behind the speaker's podium

at an Obama event where they would thereby appear on television.

The campaign has apologized for the incident.

Nevertheless, it's telling that Obama supporters are sensitive to the appearance of his having widespread support among the Muslim community.

No doubt this sensitivity springs from matters like Hamas' endorsement of Barack (before unendorsing him) and incidents like one of his advisors meeting with Hamas (then resigning after the meeting became public).
