ICE Arrests Criminal Alien After Battle With Philadelphia Authorities

Authorities in Philadelphia went out of their way to protect a criminal alien who had been arrested at least six times on charges that include aggravated assault, robbery, and making terroristic threats. The 36-year-old Mexican national has been released by Philadelphia authorities on three prior occasions, ignoring U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainers every time.

Following the criminal alien's previous release and subsequent arrest by ICE agents, the Philadelphia District Attorney's office actually wrote a letter to an immigration judge on behalf of the criminal alien, helping the illegal immigrant secure an early release. Back on the streets, the repeat offender was arrested on fresh charges, which included simple assault, possession of an instrument of a crime and recklessly endangering another person. Once again, he was released by Philadelphia officials, despite an active ICE detainer, and once again he was arrested by ICE agents.

"Despite the city’s stance on detainers, this is the first case that we have seen the district attorney’s office inject itself into immigration removal proceedings," an official with ICE's Enforcement and Removal Operations said in a statement. "City officials have indicated that they do not want to be a part of immigration enforcement, and yet in this case, they go on record and write a letter to an immigration judge, to help get an individual released? This is a dangerous policy, as I am sure the most recent victim(s) can attest to."

Looks like the open-borders zealots are doubling down on their dangerous sanctuary policies that protect criminal aliens while jeopardizing public safety.
