Pelosi's Complete 180 on Trump Halting Flights from China

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) repeatedly criticized President Donald Trump’s decision to halt flights to and from China. In fact, she led her Democratic colleagues in calling the president a xenophobe and a racist for making such a decision.

“One point of clarification I was wondering. Vice President Joe Biden’s campaign told me earlier this month that he supported President Trump’s partial travel restrictions on January 31st, blocking foreign nationals from China coming to the United States,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said on Sunday. “Do you agree that it was the right move by President Trump at the time?”

“… Actually, tens of thousands of people were still allowed in from China. So it wasn’t as it’s described, as this great moment,” Pelosi said with a smile. “There were Americans come back, green card holders coming back, but there were tens of thousands.”

“So, if you’re going to shut the door because you have an evaluation of an epidemic, then shut the door,” the speaker said.

What Pelosi is saying makes absolutely no sense. Democrats continually said Trump was a “racist” and a “xenophobe” for a halting flights from China. They somehow came to the conclusion that the Trump administration was blaming Asian Americans for the coronavirus starting in Wuhan.

In fact, just last week, Pelosi came under fire for encouraging people to visit Chinatown in San Francisco as a way of “end[ing] the discrimination, the stigma that was going out against the Asian American community.”

If President Trump wouldn’t even allow Americans or green card holders to back home, Democrats would have doubled down and said that was racist. They would have said he was so afraid of the Chinese people that he wouldn’t even let people home simply because they visited China.

Democrats are trying to play all sides of this issue and it’s pathetic. Regardless of what Trump did or didn’t do, the Democrats would label him a racist, a xenophobe and an overall terrible person who only cares about himself.
