House Democrats plan to announce their formal articles of impeachment on Tuesday morning, a sign that they're going to go full steam ahead with impeachment proceedings before Christmas.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel (D-NY) made the announcement following a late night meeting with Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) on Monday, CNN reported.

"This is not a happy day but I think we are doing what we have to do," Engel told reporters following the meeting.

The Tuesday morning announcement is expected to be made by the Democratic Chairmen of various Committees, like House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY), House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA), House Financial Services Chairwoman Maxine Waters (D-CA) and House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-NY).

The Democrats are moving forward with impeaching President Donald Trump because of his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. In the call, Trump asked Zelensky to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter, for corruption. At the time, the veep was handling international relations with Ukraine on behalf of the Obama administration. Hunter was being paid more than $50,000 a month to sit on the board of Burisma, a Ukrainian natural energy company. The worst part: Hunter didn't have any natural energy experience.

Democrats have ran with the idea that Trump threatened to withhold military aid from Ukraine – what is know as a "quid pro quo" – even though a released transcript showed no such event took place.
