Who Will Present the Dems' Impeachment Case Before the Senate? Here's Pelosi's Short List.

As the Democrats continue to push their impeachment inquiry into overdrive, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) is quietly feeling out various members to see who would be interested in serving as "impeachment managers," a role that would throw them into the national spotlight. They would be responsible for presenting the Democrats' impeachment case in front of the Senate. Pelosi has approached some members she would be a good fit for the role while others have volunteered their services, The Hill reported.

In past impeachment inquiries into Presidents Richard Nixon and Bill Clinton, only House Judiciary Committee members served as impeachment managers. Sources told The Hill Pelosi is considering making members of the House Intelligence Committee to serve in the role. If she decides to divert from precedent, which the Democrats have done so far with this entire inquiry, it wouldn't be surprising if she taps House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-CA) as an impeachment manager. After all, she already gave him carte blanche to lead the so-called investigation.

Potential picks include:

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY)
Jeffires is Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, a senior member of the Judiciary Committee and is in the Congressional Black Caucus.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD)
Raskin's a constitutional lawyer and a member of the House Oversight and Reform Committee. He has also been apart of the closed-door basement depositions Democrats conducted.

Rep. Joe Lofgren (D-CA)
Logfren's the only member of the House who worked on both impeachment cases against Nixon and Clinton. She's also a senior member of the House Judiciary Committee. Pelosi is likely to tap her only if House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) isn't picked.

Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI)
Cicilline is a member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee and head of the Democrats' messaging arm. He also participated in Schiff's closed-door depositions.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA)

Rep. Val Demings (D-FL)
Demings sits on both the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees and is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus. He's a former police officer and could provide and law enforcement perspective on things.

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA)
Schiff's Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and has led the impeachment charge since President Trump was elected.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA)
Speier's a close Pelosi alley who represents the district next to the speaker's. She was dead set on chairing the House Oversight Committee but bowed out to keep a fight from breaking out during the impeachment saga.

Rep. Jim Himes (D-CT)
Himes is the second most senior member of the House Intelligence Committee. Democrats have applauded his questioning during the initial impeachment hearings.

Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-TX)
Castro is Chairman of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus and a lawyer.
